Business Development Manager
Full-time (1.0 FTE) permanent contract: 35 hours per week
Salary: £30,000-35,000 per annum (depending on skills and experience)
Location: Based in Edinburgh, Scotland (remote working possible)
Start date: September-October 2021
We are looking for a Business Development Manager to help the Scottish Arbitration Centre build relationships with key stakeholders, plan events, develop revenue streams, and contribute to long-term strategies. A headline event for the Centre is the hosting of the Congress of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA), which is one of the world’s largest gatherings of arbitration professionals and which is to take place in Edinburgh in September 2022. The Business Development Manager will play a key role in ensuring that ICCA Edinburgh is profitable and well run. Some of the key relationships for which the Business Development Manager is responsible are ICCA Edinburgh sponsors, corporate and individual members of the Centre, and partners in the private and public sectors, including Scottish Government. The Business Development Manager is also in charge of the Centre’s communications strategy and its implementation. The role requires some administrative work, mostly related to financial reporting, but the person who ultimately takes up the post will be instrumental in contributing to the Centre’s financial, operational, legal, and communications strategies as the organisation develops new services and continues to grow Scotland’s arbitration sector.
The successful candidate will assist with administration, business, development, and marketing of the Scottish Arbitration Centre in Edinburgh and the delivery of various projects, including the management of the arbitral appointment system; the coordination of training and other events; the development of the website; the preparation of annual reports and business plans; the management of accounts; research and policy work; the development and implementation of the Centre’s communications strategy, including website content, social media, and a digital newsletter; and liaison with Scottish Government. The successful candidate will also assist with the planning and delivery of ICCA Edinburgh. The ability to work independently and as part of a team are important elements of this role.
